Mat Latos notched his first victory in Tuesday’s 9-2 win over the Giants, giving up four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in seven shutout frames.
Latos, who tossed 66 of 95 pitches for strikes, shaved nearly three runs off his ERA after his scoreless outing. The former Padres ace had yet to complete six innings in three previous starts and carried a heavy 8.22 ERA into Tuesday’s outing. Latos will look to keep rolling in his next scheduled trip to the bump, a must-start home matchup with the Astros on April 29.
